2018 Leelanau Landscapes II
Evening is my favorite time of day. The light becomes soft, activity slows, music comes on, cocktails come out. I was inspired to use the colors of evening to compose this collection of hazy landscapes... and it seemed fitting to title most of the pieces in this series after words for evening, like "dusk" and "sundown" and "close."
Thinking of evening always brings to mind this old and comforting hymn:
Abide with me, fast falls the eventide / The darkness deepens, Lord, with me abide / When other helpers fail and comforts flee / Help of the helpless, O abide with me
Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes / Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies / Heavens morning breaks, and earths vain shadows flee / In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me
